Meet Our Executive Team
Michael A. Comparato is Chairman and CEO of VIESTE. He is responsible for the company’s strategic planning and also oversees relationships with VIESTE clients, strategic partners and affiliate companies. He is the Executive-in-Charge for all capital programs and investments overseen by VIESTE companies. He has planned, financed, developed and/or managed in virtually every asset class.
He has been involved in financial transactions for both for-profit and non-profit clients, utilizing a variety of debt/equity vehicles including closed-end investment funds, real estate investment trusts, sale leaseback transactions, equity syndications, tax-exempt bond issues, pension funds and institutional lending sources.
Mike oversees VIESTE’s strategic planning, marketing, and management responsibilities regarding the company’s extensive portfolio including all infrastructure projects. He has extensive experience in the planning, financing, design, development, marketing, and operations.
He has led VIESTE teams for public, private, quasi-public and non-profit entities specializing in projects to include sports tourism campuses, senior living communities, healthcare facilities, cultural and community
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
As Vice President of VIESTE, Steve is responsible for business development, planning, transaction structuring and senior project management, especially with regards to sports, mixed-use and hospitality assets.
Much of Steve’s career has been in the hospitality and entertainment industries providing oversight of hotels, convention centers and sports facility developments both nationally and globally. Within these industries Steve has held several roles including project feasibility analysis, strategy development, operational oversight, and contingency planning, as well as capital structuring. He has been instrumentally involved with both the construction and the operational phases of sports tourism, community sport, and urban revitalization projects.
Steve was the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of the largest indoor sports complex in North America, Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Previously, he served as the Vice President of Planning and Development for Sports Facility Management (SFM). In this role, Steve was instrumental in the growth of the firm as well as in the development of organizational products, services, and management delivery systems.
Most recently before joining VIESTE in March of 2020, Steve led the development and operational start-up of Drive Nation Sports, a one of a kind youth and amateur sports complex in Dallas, Texas
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Don Currise has managed the planning, permitting, financing and construction of over $750 million of residential, commercial and institutional real estate projects nationally. He has worked extensively in the pre-construction stage of developments, coordinating program management, governmental relations, permitting, design process, budgeting and financing. Projects have ranged from museums, garages, schools, mono-rails, casinos, residential urban high rise and residential/multi use golf course communities. Mr. Currise has served public and private sector clients as owner’s representative/program manager on several major projects. The aggregate value of these capital projects exceeds $500 million.
Previously, Mr. Currise was Director of Development for Throgmartin Henke Development with oversight responsibility of three residential/multi-use developments, totaling over 12,000 units and 2 million square feet of commercial development. His background includes Vice President/Construction Services for a large architecture and engineering firm, including project management and owner representative services. Mr. Currise was a partner in a residential/commercial construction company for 20 years.
Mr. Currise is a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He majored in Real Estate and Finance. He is a licensed real estate broker having represented numerous corporate clients.
VICE PRESIDENT SPORTS OPERATIONS
John McDonald has extensive athletic and facilities’ management background. He served as the Assistant General Manager at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock (AR), Assistant General Manager of the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville (NC), and Venue Manager of the Georgia Dome for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta (GA).
In addition to the expertise John brings in facility management, he has also developed and overseen sports and entertainment content including the production, promotion, and management of sporting events, tournaments, and concerts. John has spent the last 12 years putting on high-profile events including “Serving Up Aces” featuring Pete Sampras; NBA preseason games featuring the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, Charlotte Bobcats, and others; the AT&T Corps Classic Collegiate Football Game featuring Texas A&M vs. Army; the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament; and various other events.
John most recently served as a vice president of Sports Facility Management (SFM) where he oversaw the operations of portfolio of sports tourism venues.
John was a defensive lineman for all four of his years at Duke University and holds a Master’s degree from Appalachian State University.
